On Nov. 1, 1950, Pope Pius XII defined the dogmda of the Assumption. He solemnly proclaimed that the belief that the Blessed Virgin was taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven at the end of her life really forms part of the deposit of fatih, received from the apostles. This feast confirms us in the theological virtue of hope, whereby we seek sanctification, and that of others in the midst of our ordinary duties. At the same time, we are encouraged to look toward our goal in heaven. (The Roman Missal)
Saturday, Aug. 15 is the Solemnity of the Assumption. Although it is not a holy day of obligation Immaculate Conception will have a 9 a.m. Mass on Saturday morning to honor our Blessed Mother. Please join us!
