Leading up to the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, IC community will celebrate a triduum to help us grow together in our identity as Immaculate Conception Parish. The triduum will run from Dec. 6-8 and is intended to enhance our celebration of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
- Monday, Dec. 6 (7-8 p.m.): Speaker: Fr. Stephen Dominic Hayes, O.P., will present a talk in the Church on The Immaculate Conception: What Does She Ask From Us? After the talk, a rosary will be led by Knights of Columbus and Women’s Club
- Tuesday, Dec. 7 (6:15 p.m.-?): Vigil Mass followed by Penance Service
- Wednesday, Dec. 8: Eucharistic Adoration from 7 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Mass celebrated at 8:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 7 p.m.
In the establishment and participation of this annual tradition, through Mary, we hope to ultimately lead parishioners, students, and families closer to Jesus and to one another.
Throughout the triduum celebration, parishioners can offer a written prayer intention to Our Blessed Mother and to place it in a special prayer jar at the foot of Mary’s statue displayed in front of the ambo. The physical act of writing and placing intentions in the prayer jar reminds us to ask for Mary’s intercession in our prayers. IC School students will write a prayer intention to Our Blessed Mother, and as they enter the church, they will place it in the prayer jar before the school Mass on the Feast Day. (Care will be taken to properly dispose of the papers with the written prayer intentions after the feast day concludes).
This triduum celebration of the Immaculate Conception was proposed by the Faith Formation & Spiritual Life Commission and approved by the IC Parish Pastoral Council.
